Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is determined to deliver quality governance and fulfill his campaign promises. He recently shared his thoughts with journalists in Lagos after giving a talk at a memorial lecture for St. Moses Orimolade, the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, released a statement highlighting the governor’s commitment to putting the public’s interests first and addressing service delivery challenges. He explained that his government is focused on both large initiatives and smaller actions to meet the needs of the community.
“We are dedicated to our people and our governance agenda,” Adeleke stated. “We have made progress in infrastructure, health, the digital economy, agriculture, and education. With God’s grace and the support of the public, we have achieved a lot.”
In response to his critics, Adeleke expressed empathy, noting that it’s natural to feel envy when someone succeeds where others have not. He encouraged his critics to prioritize the public’s well-being over personal grievances, asserting, “I have no choice but to succeed.”
He also addressed the opposition’s confusion about his administration’s rapid achievements, suggesting that their frustrations lead to the spread of misinformation and personal attacks.
During his lecture, themed “The Role of the Church in the Delivery of Good Governance,” Adeleke urged religious leaders to speak out against injustices and advocate for good governance. He emphasized the need for religious institutions to address critical issues like corruption and the importance of respecting the rule of law.
Adeleke concluded by stating that only principled leaders can restore public trust in governance and effectively address the needs and aspirations of the people.
