Army Arrests Three Suspects with Weapons in Delta State

In a significant security operation, troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe apprehended three suspects in Delta State who were found in possession of a large cache of weapons. The suspects, named Abel Festus, Ramsey Akporoyibo, and Stephen Omah, were intercepted while traveling in a Lexus RX 350 with the registration number YAB 347 CQ. This incident occurred in the Oghareki community of Ethiope West Local Government Area.

The operation was part of the ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force to combat rising crime and maintain peace in the Niger Delta region. The authorities conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of several dangerous items, including:

  • Five pump-action rifles
  • One Dane gun
  • One battle axe
  • Fifty-one cartridges

Major Emmanuel Onoja, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the suspects are now in custody and will undergo rigorous interrogation and further investigation to uncover the purpose behind their possession of the weapons.

Delta State has been facing an increase in arms-related incidents, prompting security forces to step up their operations to protect citizens and prevent illegal activities.
