A six-month-old baby girl, Fatima, and her parents have regained their freedom after being abducted by kidnappers in Kaduna State.
The release comes days after a video showing the couple and their infant daughter in the custody of their abductors went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and concern across the country.
The victims, identified as Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, were reportedly kidnapped from their residence in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6, 2026.
Sources said the family regained their freedom on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Although details surrounding their release remain unclear, a retired security officer who had been working with his team to secure their freedom confirmed the development to Daily Trust.
The retired officer, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the family was on its way home in a vehicle with his driver.
“Yes, they are on their way back home with my driver. It was the efforts of my team and some private individuals that led to their release,” he said.
The incident had drawn significant public attention following the circulation of the video showing the infant and her parents in captivity, renewing concerns over kidnapping and security challenges in Kaduna State.
