Russian airstrikes overnight and early Sunday killed at least six people across Ukraine, damaged civilian infrastructure and targeted data centre facilities in the capital, Kyiv, Ukrainian officials have said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said three people were killed in the Zaporizhzhia region, while another man died in Kyiv following the attacks.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces also targeted civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities and residential buildings, across at least eight regions of the country.
In the northeastern Sumy region, the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Hryhorov, reported that an elderly woman and a 16-year-old girl were killed in strikes involving Russian precision-guided bombs. Five other people sustained injuries in the attacks.
Zelenskyy further disclosed that Russian forces struck a data centre in Kyiv twice during the overnight bombardment, leaving three people injured. He did not provide further details about the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian telecommunications provider Kyivstar confirmed that a building in the Kyiv region housing some of its equipment had been damaged in the attacks.
The company, which provides mobile phone and internet services across Ukraine, said in a statement posted on X that an assessment of the damage and its potential impact on operations was ongoing.
The latest strikes underscore the continued threat to civilian infrastructure and essential services as Russia’s war against Ukraine persists.
