Masai Russell Sets New 100m Hurdles World Record, Breaks Amusan’s Mark

American Olympic champion Masai Russell has broken Tobi Amusan’s world record in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich.

Russell clocked a stunning 12.09 seconds on Thursday, eclipsing Amusan’s previous world record of 12.12 seconds set at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.

The 26-year-old dominated the race from the opening hurdles to claim a historic victory and lower her previous personal best of 12.14 seconds.

Amusan finished second in a season-best 12.23 seconds.

“Competing in a world record race is amazing,” Amusan said. “I came out here and I did my best and I am happy with this SB.”
