Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have returned to the United Kingdom with their two children after living in California since 2020.

The family reportedly travelled privately from the United States and will be based at a private property in the Cotswolds, outside London.

Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in early 2020 before relocating to California in March of the same year. Their return marks the first time they will live in Britain since then as non-working members of the Royal Family.

Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to attend school in the UK as the new academic term begins next week.

King Charles III was reportedly informed of the family’s plans earlier this month. Harry and Meghan visited the King at his Highgrove residence in July, although their relocation was not discussed during the visit.

The couple had not previously been in the UK together since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have also reportedly been informed of the family’s plans.

However, details of the family’s security arrangements remain unclear. Harry lost a legal challenge last year over his security entitlement after stepping back from royal duties and moving to the United States.

Decisions on the family’s protective security will be made by the government’s protective security committee, while questions remain over who will fund the arrangements and the level of protection they will receive.

Harry has previously said security concerns prevented him from bringing Meghan and their children to the UK.

The development comes amid another legal setback for the Duke of Sussex. Last month, he and six other public figures lost a privacy case against the publisher of the Daily Mail and could face up to £34.5 million in legal costs.
