Ned Nwoko, senator representing Delta North, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Delta State, alleging that the exercise lacked transparency, fairness, and credibility.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Nwoko faulted the conduct of the primary election that produced Ifeanyi Okowa as the winner, insisting that the process did not reflect the will of party members across the district.

The lawmaker argued that a viral video showing Okowa’s declaration emerged from only one of the 98 wards in the Delta North senatorial district, challenging the party leadership to publish comprehensive ward-by-ward results and supporting video evidence from the remaining wards.

“I wouldn’t accept it because I have a mandate — a mandate by the people,” Nwoko stated.

He maintained that he won the majority of votes across the senatorial district and demanded full disclosure of the primary results to verify the authenticity of the outcome announced by party officials.

Nwoko further revealed that his decision to defect to the APC was based on assurances allegedly made by party leaders, including Abdullahi Ganduje.

According to him, the agreements included an automatic ticket, power-sharing arrangements, dissolution of the Delta State executive committee, and the integration of defectors into the party structure.

“I certainly was told before I came into the party that there would be an automatic ticket for me. Why would I leave just like that without ensuring that I have something secure?” he said.

The senator warned that he would not accept any decision ratified by the APC national leadership if it failed to reflect what he described as the genuine mandate of grassroots party members.
