Messi’s Hamstring Injury Raises World Cup Concerns

Lionel Messi has raised fresh injury concerns ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Inter Miami CF confirmed the Argentine captain is dealing with left hamstring fatigue.

The football superstar was forced off during Inter Miami’s thrilling 6-4 Major League Soccer win over Philadelphia Union on Sunday in Miami, intensifying concerns over his fitness just weeks before the start of the global showpiece.

Messi, 38, appeared to clutch the back of his left leg in the 73rd minute before signaling to the bench for a substitution.

Medical assessments conducted on Monday reportedly revealed muscle overload associated with fatigue in the player’s left hamstring. However, club officials have yet to confirm a timeline for his return.

Inter Miami stated that Messi’s recovery will be monitored closely, with his return to action dependent on his clinical progress and physical response to treatment.
