Mother of Kidnapped GUO Transport Passenger Appeals for Help as Abductors Demand ₦50 Million Ransom

A distraught mother of a passenger abducted from a GUO Transport bus has made a public appeal for assistance after kidnappers reportedly demanded a ₦50 million ransom for her daughter’s release.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by SaharaReporters, the woman—visibly distressed—called on Nigerians and authorities to intervene, stating she is unable to meet the ransom demand.

According to her account, the abductors contacted her following the attack and insisted on a ₦50 million payment. She pleaded for a reduced amount of ₦10 million, saying her financial situation makes the initial demand impossible.

“They came to kidnap my pikin for road and they called me say make I bring N50 million. I no get N50 million. Abeg, I dey beg for N10 million. Dem never answer me,” she said in Pidgin English.

She further disclosed that the kidnappers had issued a strict deadline, heightening fears over her daughter’s safety.

“Dem don give me time say around 4 o’clock,” she added.

The woman, who identified herself as a widow, said the victim’s father is deceased and that she has no means of raising such a large sum.

“I be widow. Christiana no get papa. My husband don die. Abeg, make una help me,” she said.

The incident follows earlier reports that suspected armed men ambushed a GUO Transport bus along the Benin–Ore axis of the expressway.

The attackers reportedly killed the driver before abducting multiple passengers and forcing them into a nearby bush.

Eyewitnesses and viral footage from the scene described the attack as a “Monday morning horror,” underscoring the violent nature of the ambush.

The Benin–Lagos Expressway has continued to record repeated cases of kidnapping and armed attacks, raising renewed concerns over safety along one of the country’s busiest transport corridors.

As of the time of this report, the fate of Christiana and other abducted passengers remains unknown, while families await developments in ongoing efforts to secure their release.
