The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced a temporary stop to planned military action against Iran. The pause will last for two weeks.
Trump said the decision was made after discussions with leaders from Pakistan, who played a role in the talks.
However, the agreement comes with a condition. Iran must quickly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil transport.
In a message shared on social media, Trump stated that he has agreed to stop bombing and other attacks on Iran for two weeks, describing the move as a ceasefire from both sides.
He also explained that the United States has already achieved its main military objectives and that discussions for a lasting peace deal are almost complete.
Trump mentioned that Iran has presented a 10-point proposal, which is now being considered a strong starting point, as many important issues have already been settled.
According to him, the purpose of the two-week break is to allow both sides to finalize the agreement and work towards lasting peace in the Middle East.
