Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command in Igboho have arrested a 26-year-old man, Buba Sidi, for his involvement in a violent robbery attack in the state.
The suspect, along with two others, reportedly attacked a resident, Isiaka Oladosu, at Ibudo Iya Ibeji in the Oke Eshin area. They injured him with a machete and stole ₦860,000.
The police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident and said the police were alerted by a concerned member of the public.
He explained that officers quickly moved to the scene after receiving the information. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the area was examined to gather evidence for the investigation.
According to the police, three armed men were seen coming out from the bush before attacking the victim with weapons and robbing him of his money.
During the operation, Buba Sidi was arrested and he has already confessed to the crime, while efforts are ongoing to catch the other suspects who escaped.
The police assured residents that they remain committed to protecting lives and property and tackling crime in the state.
They also encouraged the public to continue providing useful and timely information, stressing that cooperation between the community and security agencies is key to maintaining safety.
