Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has admitted his mistake and apologised after receiving a late red card in Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly match against Jordan national football team on March 31.
Iwobi was sent off after reacting angrily when he was held back by Amer Jamous during the match, which took place in Turkey.
Looking back at what happened, the former Arsenal player admitted that he made a poor decision and described his actions as unacceptable.
Speaking on the The Alexander Yaa Digg Podcast, he said he needed to take responsibility and apologise to his teammates, coaching staff, and Nigerians who support the team. He admitted that his behaviour was wrong and led to his dismissal.
However, Iwobi also said he is ready to learn from the incident and move forward. He pointed out that the team still managed to get a draw, which is something positive to take from the game.
The Fulham star ended by again saying sorry for his mistake and promised to improve in future matches.
