Police repel cattle rustling, neutralise one bandit in Kebbi

Security operatives in Kebbi State have successfully stopped an attempted cattle rustling operation along the Kamba–Kangiwa road in Dandi Local Government Area. During the operation, one suspected bandit was killed while others fled the scene.

According to reports, armed men believed to be part of the Lakurawa group attacked a farmhouse and made away with livestock. However, their activities were disrupted when a combined team of police officers and soldiers from the Army’s Forward Operating Base in Kamba responded quickly to the incident.

The joint security team engaged the attackers in a confrontation, forcing them to abandon the stolen animals. In the process, one of the bandits was neutralized, while another escaped with injuries.

All 33 cows that were taken were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owner. Security forces have also launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects who managed to escape.

The Police Command in Kebbi State has praised the officers involved for their swift response and teamwork. Authorities also assured residents that regular patrols will continue in areas known for bandit activity to improve safety and protect lives and property.
