A woman named Favour Ayuba, whose son Promise was killed by suspected terrorists in Jos, Plateau State, has made an emotional statement asking her dead son to take revenge for his death.

According to an agency report, a viral video showed the grieving mother speaking with deep pain. She said she had not eaten anything since the attack that happened on Palm Sunday and led to her son’s death.

Earlier, another video showed her crying heavily while holding the lifeless body of her son, who was shot by the attackers.

The attack happened on March 29, during Palm Sunday, in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North. Gunmen invaded the community, killing at least 24 people and injuring many others.

In the new video, Mrs Ayuba spoke in Hausa and brought out a cutlass she had hidden inside her clothes. The cutlass was wrapped in white cloth.

She placed the cutlass inside her son’s coffin as a sign that she wanted revenge for his death.

While crying, she begged her son to take revenge, reminding him how she carried and cared for him as a baby. She asked him to find those responsible and avenge what happened.

She also mentioned a story from the Bible about Gideon, who went to war and came back victorious.

The grieving mother added that the day of the burial was also her son’s birthday. She thanked God for his life and said she would try to stop crying. She also promised to start eating again, even though she had refused food since the attack. She said she trusted her son, whose name included “Gideon,” to fight and win, just like the biblical figure.
