Russia fires nearly 1,000 drones at Ukraine in one of the war’s largest attacks

Russia has carried out one of its most intense aerial assaults on Ukraine, launching nearly 1,000 drones within a single day. The large-scale attack highlights a new level of escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Ukrainian authorities reported that over 550 drones were used during daytime operations, targeting several cities across the country. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that dozens of people were injured, including children.

Casualties were recorded in different regions, with deaths reported in Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia. Several others were injured in cities like Lviv, as emergency services worked to respond to the widespread destruction caused by the strikes.

According to Ukraine’s air force, many of the drones were intercepted, but some managed to hit their targets. The attacks damaged homes, public facilities, and critical infrastructure, leaving parts of cities in distress.

Among the affected locations was a maternity hospital and sections of the historic Bernardine Monastery Complex. Authorities say the full scale of the damage is still being evaluated as rescue operations continue.

Meanwhile, retaliatory strikes were reported in Russia’s Kursk region, showing that both sides remain engaged in heavy drone warfare. The latest attacks underline the ongoing intensity of the war, with no immediate resolution in sight.
