Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra State, has urged Igbo voters in the south-east to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. He made the appeal during his second-term inauguration at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Tuesday.
The inauguration ceremony saw the chief judge of Anambra, Onochie Anyachebelu, administer the oath of office to Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim. The event was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
Soludo told the gathering that the south-east should not “waste” votes on other presidential candidates, stressing that backing Tinubu is in the region’s best political interest. He added that producing a president from the south-east is not immediately feasible.
He cited Tinubu’s administration as bringing positive changes to the south-east and described the president as cerebral, courageous, and patriotic. Soludo said the Igbo have reason to trust Tinubu to deliver meaningful progress.
The governor also called on political opponents in Anambra to put aside differences and focus on governance, noting that electoral contests in the state have concluded. He emphasized that development and public service should be the priority moving forward.
Vice-President Shettima praised Soludo’s leadership and commitment to integrity, urging residents to support initiatives that position Anambra as a hub for economic growth and investment in Nigeria.
