Tinubu set for state visit to United Kingdom Tuesday

President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Tuesday for a state visit to the United Kingdom after receiving an invitation from King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and key cabinet members will accompany him.

The visit marks the first by a Nigerian leader in 37 years and the first hosted by the British monarch at Windsor Castle. Tinubu will attend an exhibition of Royal Collection items linked to Nigeria and meet with interfaith organisations.

During the trip, Tinubu will witness the signing of a £746 million financing deal between UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Ministry of Finance for refurbishing Lagos Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port.

The Nigerian leader is also scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, with plans to sign agreements on trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation. A state banquet will be held in honour of the Nigerian delegation.
