A grandmother was attacked and killed in her home in Iyana-Isashi, while a man who reportedly saw the incident was badly beaten and left seriously injured.

The victim’s daughter, a hairstylist, said she immediately went to the nearby police station when she heard the news. There, she met many people from her community reporting the attack on her mother and was shown her mother’s body.

When she returned home, she noticed signs of a struggle, suggesting her mother had just come out of the bathroom when she was attacked.

She had been struck with a stick and hacked with a cutlass, leaving blood stains on the sand outside the compound. The cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was also found in the sand.

A male neighbor in the next compound was also attacked, possibly because he witnessed the incident.

He was found unconscious but still breathing. Footprints and signs of forced entry showed the attacker moved from the victim’s house to the neighbor’s compound, possibly to silence him.

Although the suspect has not been confirmed, the hairstylist believes her paternal uncle may be involved, saying he had previously threatened to harm her mother if she did not leave the house.

She also mentioned that her uncle’s son, recently released from prison, might have been part of the attack, and suspects both men may have played a role.

She is calling for justice for her mother and urges authorities to investigate thoroughly to bring the perpetrators to account.
