Man Utd manager Michael Carrick responds after Paul Scholes criticism

Michael Carrick has said he was not offended by comments made by former teammate Paul Scholes about Manchester United’s recent performances. Scholes had earlier criticised the team after their defeat to Newcastle United, suggesting the side had not played well in their last few matches despite getting results.

Scholes made the remark during a discussion on the podcast The Good, The Bad and The Football. The former United midfielder later explained that his statement was not meant to attack Carrick personally. He also revealed that he contacted Carrick directly to clear up any misunderstanding.

According to Scholes, he simply meant that the team had been fortunate in some recent games and that such luck can sometimes influence results. He stressed that Carrick remains one of the nicest people in football and said he never intended to offend him with the comment.

Speaking ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa, Carrick downplayed the situation. He explained that different opinions are normal in football and that comments on social media are often misinterpreted. The United coach added that he was calm about the issue and not concerned about the criticism.
