Bandit Attacks In Katsina Leave 14 Dead, Several Injured

At least 14 people have died and several others injured in two separate bandit attacks in Katsina State’s Dandume and Musawa LGAs. In Dansoda community, Dandume, 11 residents were killed after attackers opened fire on people breaking their Ramadan fast.

The victims in Dandume were buried according to Islamic rites, while the injured were rushed to hospitals for treatment. Security agencies had not immediately responded to the first attack at the time of reporting.

In a related incident, bandits attacked Jikamshi village in Musawa LGA, killing three people and injuring 11. A joint security team engaged the attackers, foiling further violence, and the Commissioner of Police ordered an investigation.

Residents reported that attackers looted shops and stole valuables during the assaults. The incidents come after a controversial peace agreement with repentant bandits, which involved the release of about 70 suspected offenders.
