A woman accused of opening fire near the home of global music star Rihanna has appeared in court for the first time in Los Angeles. The suspect, Ivanna Ortiz, has been formally charged with attempted murder following the shooting incident at the singer’s Beverly Hills residence.

According to court documents, Ortiz faces several additional charges, including multiple counts of assault with a firearm and firing into an inhabited building. Authorities say the incident occurred while Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, were at the property.

Prosecutors allege that the suspect fired several shots toward the residence, damaging the security gate and other property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those inside the home at the time.

Officials from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated that the suspect could face life imprisonment if convicted. Ortiz remains in custody on bail and is expected to return to court for arraignment on March 26.
