Ex-Mayor offers no apology after she’s convicted of drunken s3x with teenager

Former DeRidder, Louisiana mayor, Misty Roberts, has been convicted on two felony charges, including carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a minor. Her legal team says she maintains her innocence and plans to appeal the verdict.

Roberts’ lawyer, Todd Clemons, said she is deeply disappointed with the decision but respects the jury’s ruling. He added that no apology will be issued on her behalf, and the defense will seek leniency at sentencing.

The former mayor, 43, faces up to 17 years in prison if the court imposes the maximum penalty. Her sentencing is scheduled for April 17, where arguments for reduced punishment will be presented.

During the trial, the alleged victim testified that the incident occurred during a pool party at Roberts’ home, involving intoxicated sexual activity with a minor. Roberts’ defense highlighted her prior service to the community and her role as a mother.
