The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun Disu, has inaugurated a committee to oversee the implementation of state policing across the country. The move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and improve community-based law enforcement.
Speaking at the event, the police boss said the committee will develop clear guidelines and strategies to ensure a smooth transition. He noted that state policing is expected to enhance local security responses and address unique challenges in different regions.
The committee is made up of senior police officers and key stakeholders who will work together to create a workable framework. They are expected to consult widely and submit recommendations within a set timeline.
Disu assured Nigerians that the initiative aims to promote professionalism, accountability, and better coordination between federal and state security structures.
