Tinubu calls for orderly conduct as FCT, Rivers, Kano vote Saturday

President Bola Tinubu has appealed to voters, officials, and security agencies to remain calm and responsible during Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers State, and Kano State. He stressed that peaceful participation is vital for credible polls and strong democracy.

In a statement issued by his adviser Bayo Onanuga, the president encouraged eligible citizens to vote confidently and avoid violence or actions that could disrupt the process. He warned against intimidation, misconduct, and inflammatory speech from political actors and supporters.

Tinubu assured Nigerians that the government would support the Independent National Electoral Commission to deliver free and fair elections. He also directed the commission to ensure smooth accreditation, transparent collation, and quick result transmission in line with the 2026 Electoral Act.

INEC is set to conduct council polls in the FCT and bye-elections in Rivers and Kano, where some legislative seats became vacant. The president expressed confidence that the exercise would reflect the people’s will and further strengthen Nigeria’s democratic system.
