Nigeria-born defender Hamdi Akujobi has completed a move to Excelsior Rotterdam on a free transfer, strengthening the Dutch side’s defensive options. The club confirmed the deal, noting that the contract runs until the end of the season with an option for an extension.
The 26-year-old is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury he suffered during his spell at SC Heerenveen. Reports indicate he is in the final phase of rehabilitation and is expected to return to action soon once fully fit.
Akujobi is regarded as a valuable addition because of his experience in the Eredivisie, where he has faced top-level opposition. His versatility and defensive awareness are seen as qualities that could boost the squad.
The right-back began his professional journey with Feyenoord and has also featured for Almere City, building a steady career in Dutch football. His arrival is expected to add depth and experience as Excelsior pushes for stronger performances.
