Ogun Govt warns residents against roadside trading after fatal Ota accident

The Ogun State Government has warned residents against roadside trading after a fatal accident at the Ota tollgate in Ado-Odo/Ota LGA claimed several lives and destroyed property. The practice was described as unsafe and a major risk to public safety.

Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele urged citizens to use designated market stalls and trading areas provided by the state to avoid tragic incidents. She emphasized that street trading exposes people to unnecessary dangers along busy highways.

The Olota of Ota, Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, condemned roadside commerce, stating that repeated warnings could have prevented the deaths. He expressed condolences to the families of victims and prayed for the repose of their souls.

Authorities, including FRSC and TRACE, were praised for their swift response. The state government reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring residents patronize approved markets.
