An 18-year-old identified as Carter Camacho was arrested after running toward the U.S. Capitol Building carrying a loaded weapon. According to Michael Sullivan, officers ordered him to drop it, and he complied before being taken into custody.
Police said the suspect wore tactical gear and carried extra ammunition. Authorities later found a vehicle near the U.S. Botanic Garden containing protective equipment. The car was not registered to him, and investigators say he had multiple addresses.
The arrest was carried out by the United States Capitol Police, who said the suspect ran several hundred yards toward the building before being stopped. Officials have not announced a motive and are still investigating his intentions.
