Hit-and-run driver k!lls woman in Lagos

A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a female pedestrian at the NYSC Bus Stop in the Igando area of Lagos State. The incident involved a Mercedes-Benz C-300, whose driver reportedly fled immediately after the collision. The victim was said to be heading to a church service when the crash occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the development in an official statement. According to the agency, its officers along the Igando corridor quickly responded after receiving emergency alerts. They secured the scene to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of other road users.

Officials disclosed that the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped upon realising the seriousness of the situation. LASTMA described the act as a serious breach of traffic laws and civic responsibility. The vehicle was later cleared from the road in collaboration with officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division, who have begun an investigation to track down the suspect.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olajide Bakare-Oki, extended condolences to the bereaved family and members of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, where the victim worshipped. He reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and urged motorists to respect speed limits and pedestrian rights to prevent further tragedies.
