The Kaduna State Government has explained how it secured the safe release of victims abducted in Kajuru Local Government Area. The State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the success was achieved through a carefully planned peace approach designed specifically for Kaduna State.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday, Maiyaki noted that the strategy used by the government is different from the usual security operations. According to him, Kaduna operates a non-kinetic peace model, which focuses on dialogue, trust-building, and strong cooperation with local communities rather than relying solely on force.
He recalled that in January, armed men attacked three churches in the area and kidnapped over 100 worshippers, causing fear and outrage across the state. However, Governor Uba Sani later received 183 victims on Thursday after they were released following 19 days in captivity, bringing relief to families and residents.
Maiyaki explained that the rescue effort involved close engagement with community leaders, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders. He added that the governor had promised the affected community that everyone would return safely. According to the commissioner, that promise has now been fulfilled, as all victims were rescued without harm, despite the challenges involved.
