Police rescue two, arrest suspected Kidnapper in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police have successfully rescued two individuals and arrested a man suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities across the state. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed this in a statement released on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

According to the statement, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, police patrols rescued a man identified as David O in the Kireyi area. The victim had been traveling from Lafia to Assakio when a motorcycle rider diverted into the bush in an attempt to abduct him. Thanks to timely police intervention, David managed to escape from the kidnappers’ camp, although the suspect fled the scene.

In another case, the police arrested Jamilu Salisu from Dutsinma in Katsina State, allegedly involved in the abduction of a primary two pupil of UBE Gitata. The arrest was made following information from a community member, while his accomplice remains at large.

The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to ensure that the suspect is charged to court. They urged community members to provide credible information to help prevent kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
