Manchester City have booked a place in the final of this season’s Carabao Cup, where they will take on Arsenal at Wembley Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side confirmed their dominance with a convincing 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the second leg of their semi-final clash. The win sealed an emphatic aggregate success for City.
City entered the match with a 2-0 lead from the first leg and wasted no time in extending their advantage. The home side took full control early on, putting Newcastle under heavy pressure from the opening minutes. Their fast and aggressive approach left the visitors struggling to settle into the game.
Omar Marmoush scored twice in quick succession during the first half, effectively ending Newcastle’s hopes of a comeback. Tijjani Reijnders added a third goal before halftime, making City’s passage to the final all but certain. Newcastle were unable to respond meaningfully as City dominated possession and chances.
Anthony Elanga later scored a brilliant solo goal for Newcastle, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation. Manchester City will now face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on March 22, with both teams aiming to lift the first major trophy of the season.
