Transfer: Nigerian striker set to join Bundesliga club Augsburg

Nigerian striker Uchenna Ugundu is set to complete a permanent move to German Bundesliga club Augsburg, according to reports. The 19-year-old forward is expected to take the next big step in his career with the switch to Germany’s top division.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Augsburg have reached an agreement in principle with Turkish club Alanyaspor for the young striker. The deal, once finalised, will see Ugundu leave Turkey less than a year after arriving, highlighting the rapid progress he has made in his career.

Ugundu joined Alanyaspor from Şanlıurfaspor last summer and quickly made an impression. During his short spell with the Turkish side, he scored two goals and provided one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions, attracting interest from clubs outside Turkey.

If the move is completed, Ugundu will become the second Nigerian to play for Augsburg, following the path of compatriot Frank Onyeka. The transfer is seen as a major opportunity for the striker to develop further and test himself at a higher level in European football.
