Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and key leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said the growing partnership between the ADC and the Obidient Movement could end APC dominance in the 2027 general elections. He made the remarks during a reception in Benin City, Edo State, for members of the Obidient Movement who recently defected to the ADC.
Odigie-Oyegun noted that the alignment of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi with the ADC had strengthened the party, attracting a new wave of committed youths ready to pursue political change. He said, “The calibre and dedication of new members joining our party strengthens my belief that a new Nigeria is within reach.”
He described the mass defection as a strategic move by the Obidient Movement to actively participate in national transformation. Odigie-Oyegun also recalled the entry of prominent figures like Dele Momodu into the party, highlighting that the youth are increasingly motivated to engage in meaningful political action.
Odigie-Oyegun further urged citizens to respond to growing dissatisfaction with governance at both national and state levels by uniting for collective political action through the ADC. “Our mission is clear: we have a country to save. Through the ADC, we can make a new Nigeria a reality,” he said.
