The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from a planned protest reportedly targeted at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party described the organisers of the protest as impostors, insisting that the action does not have the approval or support of its leadership.
In a statement released by the party, NNPP clarified that it is not involved in any demonstration against INEC and has not authorised any group or individuals to act on its behalf. The party warned the public and security agencies to disregard any protest being linked to its name.
NNPP leadership stressed that it remains committed to lawful and peaceful engagement with democratic institutions. According to the party, any grievances it may have with electoral processes will be addressed through legal and constitutional means rather than street protests.
The party further urged its members and supporters across the country to remain calm and avoid being misled by individuals seeking to create confusion. NNPP reaffirmed its dedication to democracy and called on Nigerians to verify information before associating the party with any planned action.
