SPL: Ronaldo no longer scores from set-pieces – Al-Nassr boss, Jesus laments

Al-Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer as effective from set-pieces as he used to be. The Portuguese tactician made the comment while reflecting on the team’s recent performances in the Saudi Pro League, noting a visible change in Ronaldo’s free-kick success rate.

According to Jesus, Ronaldo still plays an important role in the team, but scoring directly from free-kicks and other set-pieces has become more difficult for the veteran forward. He explained that opponents now study Ronaldo closely and set up defensive walls better, making such chances harder to convert.

Despite this challenge, the Al-Nassr coach stressed that Ronaldo remains a key figure due to his leadership, experience, and overall goal contribution. Jesus added that the team is working on alternative set-piece strategies rather than relying solely on Ronaldo to deliver goals from dead-ball situations.

Ronaldo, who has scored many iconic free-kick goals throughout his career, continues to focus on helping Al-Nassr compete at the highest level. While his set-piece output may have reduced, the club believes his presence and influence still make a big difference in matches.
