Ghana nabs 53 Nigerians in large-scale cybercrime operation, recovers laptops, phones, firearms

Ghanaian security agencies have arrested 53 Nigerians during a large-scale cybercrime operation carried out in parts of the country. The coordinated raid targeted suspected online fraud networks believed to be involved in cyber-related crimes affecting victims both within and outside Ghana.

During the operation, officers recovered several items allegedly used for illegal activities. These included laptops, mobile phones, internet devices, and other digital tools suspected to be linked to online scams. Security personnel also reported the recovery of firearms, raising concerns about the level of organization behind the operation.

Authorities said the arrests followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. According to officials, the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, while investigations continue to determine the full scope of their activities and identify possible collaborators.

Ghanaian officials reaffirmed their commitment to fighting cybercrime and protecting the country’s digital space. They also stressed the importance of regional cooperation in tackling cross-border crimes, noting that offenders would face prosecution in line with Ghana’s laws.
