The Taraba State Government has raised an alarm over the activities of a suspected fraudster who is allegedly impersonating a senior state official to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. The government warned residents to be vigilant and avoid engaging with unknown individuals claiming to represent the state.
According to the state government, the suspected impostor has been contacting people under false pretences, using the name and position of a government official to solicit money and other benefits. Authorities described the act as criminal and capable of damaging the image of the state administration.
The government stressed that no legitimate official would demand payments or favours through unofficial channels. It urged the public to verify any claims by contacting the appropriate government offices before responding to requests allegedly made in the name of the state.
Security agencies have been alerted and investigations are reportedly ongoing to track down the suspect. The Taraba State Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and advised citizens to promptly report any suspicious communication to law enforcement agencies.
