Rivers: Wike, Fubara’s fight is spiritual – Fayose

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the ongoing political rivalry between Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as spiritual in nature. Fayose recalled giving prophetic advice to Fubara during his inauguration in 2023, warning him against engaging in conflict with Wike, or he would encounter unseen spiritual challenges. Despite intervention attempts by President Bola Tinubu, tensions between the two politicians resurfaced during Wike’s brief 17-day visit to Rivers State.

Fayose explained in an interview with Arise Television that during Fubara’s inauguration events, he cautioned the new governor to guard against influences that could strain his relationship with Wike. He emphasized that betrayal, ingratitude, and forgetting the lessons of life could open doors to spiritual attacks and prolonged political conflict. According to Fayose, these warnings were meant to help Fubara navigate the first four years of his administration successfully.

The former governor also reflected on his personal political experiences, saying that youthful exuberance and inattention to guidance can create unnecessary problems. He noted that outside influences and advisors often interfere with leaders’ decisions, potentially harming relationships with key figures, in this case between Fubara and Wike. Fayose described the ensuing political tension and Wike’s opposition to Fubara’s second-term prospects as evidence that his prophecy had come true.

Fayose concluded by affirming that the struggle between Wike and Fubara goes beyond politics, stating that it has deep spiritual roots. He advised leaders to heed prophetic counsel and maintain vigilance over their personal and political interactions to avoid repeating mistakes that could lead to ongoing disputes.
