The Biafran Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), led by Simon Ekpa’s team, has pledged to continue its international campaign against what it calls the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. The group praised recent actions by the United States, which has designated Nigeria as a “country of concern” and conducted a military strike in Northwest Nigeria targeting Islamic terrorists. BRGIE said these developments reflect growing global attention on the plight of Nigerian Christians.
BRGIE also announced changes to its Washington-based advocacy team. The group confirmed that Elias Gerasoulis, who previously represented BRGIE in the U.S., has stepped down, and legal counsel Arman Dabiri will now continue to handle its international legal and lobbying efforts. The group described these changes as part of a broader plan to strengthen its presence in the United States and maintain momentum for its campaigns.
Gerasoulis was credited with helping BRGIE gain high-level attention in the U.S., elevating the concerns of Christian and Biafran communities to international policymakers. Meanwhile, BRGIE’s new legal arrangements aim to maintain advocacy efforts and build strategic partnerships with the U.S. government to support Biafra’s independence aspirations. The group emphasized that its work would continue under the new legal and lobbying framework.
The BRGIE statement also extended gratitude to Moran Global Strategies for its past support, while reiterating the group’s commitment to highlighting alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria. The Nigerian government, however, has previously dismissed some of the genocidal claims, linking them to pro-Biafra organisations. Despite this, BRGIE insists on sustaining its global advocacy and legal campaigns to bring international attention to its cause.
