Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, the wife of former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo. Mama Lucia passed on at the age of 101, and the governor described her death as the close of a remarkable chapter in the state’s history.
Governor Abiodun said Mama Onabanjo lived a life filled with faith, service, and dedication to her family and society. He noted that she stood firmly beside her husband during his years of public service and struggles for democracy, offering strength, prayers, and encouragement through difficult times.
While acknowledging the pain of losing a mother, the governor said her long life is also worth celebrating because of the positive impact she made on those around her. He praised her for raising a disciplined and successful family and for leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and commitment to progress.
The governor prayed for comfort and strength for the Onabanjo family and all who were touched by Mama Lucia’s life. He asked God to grant her eternal rest and to give her loved ones the grace to bear the loss with peace and hope.
