A security analyst, Aigbokhan Oseremen, has explained why insecurity is becoming worse in Edo State, saying poor economic conditions, unemployment and weak law enforcement are major reasons behind the growing wave of crime and violence in the state.
According to him, many young people without jobs or stable income are easily drawn into criminal activities as a means of survival. He added that this problem is made worse by rising living costs and the lack of social support for vulnerable groups.
Oseremen also blamed weak security structures and limited resources for security agencies, saying this reduces their ability to respond quickly and effectively to crimes. He stressed that without proper equipment, funding and training, security forces cannot fully protect communities.
He therefore called on the state and federal governments to invest more in job creation, education and security reforms. He said only a combined effort that addresses both economic hardship and law enforcement gaps can reduce insecurity and restore peace in Edo State.
