Algeria has approached the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA following their 2-0 loss to Nigeria in the ongoing AFCON 2025 tournament. The North African side is reportedly seeking a review of the match, citing contentious incidents during the game.
The Super Eagles secured victory through a strong performance, with Nigeria controlling possession and converting key chances. Algeria, however, has expressed dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions, claiming that certain calls affected the outcome of the quarter-final clash.
CAF has confirmed receiving Algeria’s complaint and is expected to investigate the matter. The football governing body may decide on possible actions depending on its findings, while FIFA could also intervene if regulations were breached.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles remain focused on their next AFCON 2025 fixtures, as they continue to advance in the tournament. Nigeria’s team management has declined to comment on Algeria’s appeal, emphasizing their commitment to on-field performance and fair play.
