The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has advised the Super Eagles to avoid confrontations with teammates, opponents and match officials during the Africa Cup of Nations. The group said emotional reactions and unnecessary arguments could distract the team and affect their focus on winning matches.
SWAN made the call following recent incidents that showed rising tension during games. The association stressed that discipline, calmness and respect are just as important as skill and tactics in international tournaments. According to SWAN, teams that stay composed often perform better under pressure.
The sports body also reminded players that their behaviour on the pitch reflects on the country as a whole. They urged the Super Eagles to act as good ambassadors of Nigeria by showing maturity, professionalism and respect for the rules of the game, regardless of the situation on the field.
SWAN concluded by encouraging the players to channel their energy into teamwork and positive play rather than arguments or protests. They expressed confidence that with the right attitude and focus, the Super Eagles can go far in the competition and make Nigerians proud.
