31 ships with fuel, food items to arrive Lagos ports – NPA

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 31 ships loaded with fuel and food items are expected to arrive at Lagos ports in the coming days. The agency said the vessels are bringing in petrol, diesel, wheat, rice and other essential goods needed across the country.

According to the NPA, the shipments are part of ongoing efforts to support supply chains and reduce pressure on fuel and food availability in Nigeria. The authority said terminals at Apapa and Tin Can Island are already making preparations to receive and discharge the vessels smoothly.

Officials explained that the arrival of the ships is expected to improve market supply and help stabilise prices, especially for fuel and basic food items that affect daily living. The NPA added that port operations have been strengthened to avoid delays and congestion during the discharge process.

The ports authority urged stakeholders, including importers, transporters and terminal operators, to cooperate to ensure fast clearance of the cargo. It also reassured Nigerians that measures are in place to keep the ports running efficiently to support economic activities nationwide.
