Northern governors condemn Niger market attack, mourn victims of Yobe boat mishap

Governors from Northern Nigeria have strongly condemned the violent attack on a market in Niger State and expressed deep sorrow over the boat accident in Yobe State that claimed several lives. They described both incidents as heartbreaking and unacceptable, calling for urgent steps to protect civilians and prevent similar tragedies.

In their reactions, the governors sympathised with the families of those killed or injured in the Niger market attack, saying innocent people should never be targets of violence. They urged security agencies to swiftly identify and arrest those responsible, while also strengthening surveillance in vulnerable communities.

On the Yobe boat mishap, the governors said the incident highlights the dangers of unsafe transport on inland waterways. They called for stricter safety measures, better regulation of boat operations, and increased public awareness to reduce the risk of future accidents.

The governors reaffirmed their commitment to working together with federal authorities, security agencies, and local communities to improve safety, protect lives, and restore confidence across the region. They appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security efforts.
