Imo politician, Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, has criticized the current administration in the state, saying Imo has lost direction due to years of poor leadership, rising insecurity, and deepening poverty. He made the comments while registering as a member of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, where he also hinted at contesting the 2027 governorship election.
Amadi said governance in Imo has been reduced to slogans, posters, and public relations, instead of real service to the people. According to him, residents are constantly promised progress, but very little changes in their daily lives. He warned that this gap between what leaders say and what citizens experience has damaged public trust and weakened confidence in government.
Speaking on security, Amadi noted that fear has become part of everyday life in many communities, forcing businesses to close early and families to live cautiously. He added that economic hardship has worsened as traders, youths, and skilled workers struggle to survive, with many leaving the state in search of better opportunities elsewhere.
He accused the government of promoting loyalty over competence and enriching a few at the expense of the majority. Amadi called on Imo people to reject poor leadership and support what he described as a new political direction under the APP, which he said offers a chance for transparent, accountable, and people-centered governance.
