Residents protest demolition of primary school in Ibadan

Residents of a community in Ibadan, Oyo State, have protested the demolition of a public primary school in their area. The protesters, including parents and community leaders, said the school was important to their children’s education and should not have been removed without proper consultation.

The residents explained that the school served many families who cannot afford private education. They complained that the demolition was sudden and left pupils without a nearby place to learn, forcing some children to travel long distances or stop attending school.

Community members called on the state government to explain the reason for the demolition and to provide an alternative school for the affected children. They said education should be protected and not disrupted by development projects or political decisions.

The protesters said they would continue to press their demands until authorities address their concerns. They urged the government to put the welfare of children first and ensure that access to basic education is not taken away from the community.
