Banditry, porous borders fuel insecurity in Kano – KCJF

The Kano Civil Justice Forum (KCJF) has warned that the growing insecurity in Kano State is being fueled by bandit attacks and weak control along Nigeria’s borders. The group said criminals easily move weapons and fighters into communities, making it harder for security agencies to stop violent crimes.

According to KCJF, bandits take advantage of unguarded border routes to enter the state, carry out attacks, and escape without being caught. The organisation said this has led to increased cases of kidnapping, robbery, and violent assaults across several parts of Kano.

The group called on the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen border patrols and improve intelligence sharing. It also urged state authorities to work closely with local communities to identify threats early and prevent attacks before they happen.

KCJF stressed that insecurity affects business, education, and daily life, and warned that failure to act quickly could worsen the situation. The group appealed for urgent action to protect residents and restore safety across Kano State.
