Christian genocide: Muslim-Muslim ticket enough to provoke Trump’s threat – Iroegbu

Public affairs analyst Iroegbu has said that Nigeria’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket created international concern and helped draw attention to claims of persecution against Christians in the country. According to him, the same-faith leadership arrangement sent a wrong signal abroad and made foreign observers more sensitive to religious issues in Nigeria.

He argued that this situation made it easier for former US President Donald Trump to issue warnings about the treatment of Christians in Nigeria. Iroegbu said Trump’s comments did not come out of nowhere but were influenced by how Nigeria’s leadership appears to exclude religious balance.

The analyst added that while Nigeria remains a multi-religious and democratic society, political decisions should reflect fairness, inclusion, and diversity. He warned that ignoring these principles could damage Nigeria’s image and attract more negative global attention.

Iroegbu urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize national unity and religious tolerance over political convenience. He stressed that inclusive governance would reduce tension, improve the country’s reputation, and prevent external actors from misinterpreting Nigeria’s internal affairs.
