Why Governor Makinde Stopped Supporting Tinubu – Wike’s Aide, Lere Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has revealed why Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde fell out with President Bola Tinubu. Makinde recently announced that he would not be supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid, sparking widespread speculation.

According to Olayinka, the disagreement arose because President Tinubu did not approve Makinde’s nominee for the Oyo State ministerial position. He claimed that if the nominee had been accepted, Makinde would still be backing Tinubu.

Olayinka also highlighted Makinde’s history of political defections, noting that the governor has switched parties several times when his ambitions were not met. This, he argued, demonstrates that Makinde is loyal to no individual or party.

The aide further alleged that Makinde previously acted against other PDP governors in the Southwest to secure his position as the only PDP governor in the region. Olayinka’s comments have reignited debates over Makinde’s political allegiance and future plans beyond 2027.
